Russian invasion: Situation report day 394

By Phil Bainbridge

March 24, 2023 - EU leaders have endorsed a plan to send one million artillery shells to
Kyiv over the next year, as President Zelensky calls for more long-range weapons from allies.

Kyiv has also repeatedly requested fighter jets, “to drive the Russian aviation as far as possible from our borders and provide support to our ground troops by disrupting the enemy logistics” and establish greater control over enemy movements in the Black Sea. In coordination with Poland, Slovakia has provided four Sovet-era MiG-29s.

A Ukrainian ground commander has claimed that a Ukrainian counteroffensive in Bakhmut will start “very soon”, after Russian attacks appear to have run out of steam, with some forces likely redeployed elsewhere and Wagner Group forces running low on arms and personnel.
