No end in sight after a year of war in Ukraine

February 21, 2023 - As Ukraine’s fight with Russia reaches the one-year mark, both sides continue to suffer heavy losses and the conflict shows no signs of abating.

Analysts estimate that close to 200,000 Russian troops have been killed or wounded in the war so far. By comparison, Ukraine has seen some 100,000 killed or wounded in action, and 30,000 civilian deaths.

In terms of equipment, the two sides have lost a combined total of more than 12,000 weapon platforms, according to open-source data.

This includes more than 2,000 tanks, 4,000 armoured vehicles and 1,000 artillery pieces.
