Morocco hosts FIFA Club World Cup 2022
February 1, 2023 - February 11, 2023 - UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid are aiming to lift their fifth Club World Cup trophy in Morocco, where six continental champions and a nominated team from Africa battle to be crowned Champion of Champions.
The six continental champions are Wydad Casablanca (Africa), Al Hilal (Asia), Real Madrid (Europe), Seattle Sounders (North, Central America and Caribbean), Auckland City (Oceania) and Flamengo (South America). Al Ahly, from Egypt, represents the host confederation as Casablanca, from host nation Morocco, triumphed in CAF Champions League.
Since the establishment of the tournament in 2000, European teams have won 14 of 18 titles.
The annual FIFA Club World Cup features the champions of the six continental football leagues’ top competitions – CAF Champions League (Africa), AFC Champions League (Asia), UEFA Champions League (Europe), CONCACAF Champions League (North, Central America and Caribbean), OFC Champions League (Oceania) and Copa Libertadores (South America), plus a team from the host nation.
