Eight found guilty over 2016 Nice terror attack

December 14, 2022 - A French court has convicted all eight defendants in connection with the 2016 Bastille Day attack in the southern French city of Nice, in which 86 people were killed.

Attacker Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel was shot dead by police after driving a lorry into crowds celebrating France’s national day on July 14.

Hundreds of people were injured in the massacre – one of the worst attacks in Europe in recent years.

Seven men and a woman were sentenced by a special court in Paris to jail terms ranging from two to 18 years. Three were convicted of association with a terrorist, while five others were found guilty of supplying weapons, the BBC said.
