Situation report day 265

By Phil Bainbridge

November 15, 2022 - President Zelenskiy has said there will be “no Minsk-3 deal”, a reference to the agreements that were supposed to have ended the fighting in Donbas in 2015, and has called on G20 leaders to adopt a Ukrainian-proposed peace plan.

The private military Wagner Group are believed to be responsible for the sledgehammer murder of former prison inmate Yevgeny Nuzhin who defected to Ukraine but was later thought to have been returned to Russia in a prisoner swap. Nuzhin had been freed from prison in July and conscripted into Wagner but was captured by Ukrainian forces in September.

Russia is intensifying operations in Donetsk Oblast and has claimed the capture of two towns, which may be operationally insignificant but deflect to some extent from the humiliating withdrawal from Kherson in the south.
