UKRAINE
Situation report day 257
November 7, 2022 - The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, has urged residents to consider leaving the capital in the event of a complete blackout as Russia continues its campaign of strikes on energy infrastructure.
Planned temporary blackouts are scheduled to hit seven regions of Ukraine throughout Nov 7, according to Ukraine’s state-run energy company.
The regions include the city of Kyiv, and the regions of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava.
More than 4.5 million consumers were already without power, he added, amid concerns that support for Ukraine could waver as the war's impact on energy and food prices persists into winter.
