New York Marathon course 2022

By Chris Dinsdale

November 6, 2022 - The 51st running of the New York City Marathon, and the concluding race of the six annual World Marathon Majors. The race starts in Staten Island and finishes in Central Park.

The New York City Marathon -- established in 1970 -- was held entirely within Central Park for the first six years. The first five-borough event, from Staten Island to Central Park, was held in 1976 to celebrate the United States’ bicentennial.

The 2019 edition featured over 50,000 elite and amateur runners, while competitor numbers declined to 33,000 in 2021, due to COVID-19 restrictions. This year’s race will once again see mass starters return, including a star-studded lineup of elite athletes in the men's and women's categories.

8:00am: Professional Wheelchairs
8:22am: Handcycles and Athletes with Disabilities
