Russia suspends Black Sea grain exports deal

November 1, 2022 - More than 9.5 million tonnes of corn, wheat, sunflower products, barley, rapeseed and soy have been exported from Ukraine since the UN-led Black Sea grain deal was signed in July.

More ships left Ukrainian ports on Tuesday despite a Russian decision to pull out of the grain export scheme.

Russia halted its backing for the deal on Saturday, accusing Ukraine of using a safety corridor to attack its fleet. Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the attack in Crimea – Ukraine’s southern peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014 – according to the BBC.
