Donald Trump facing several serious legal battles
October 17, 2022 - Former U.S. President Donald Trump is under investigation for several possible crimes, such as allegedly mishandling top secret documents and over-valuing his property portfolio.
Four high-profile investigations into the affairs and actions of Donald Trump could have a big impact on him personally and politically. They are all ongoing and, at the time of writing, have not resulted in criminal charges:
CAPITOL RIOT: Trump’s alleged role in attack on U.S. Capitol, when mob tried to prevent confirmation of Joe Biden’s (right) election victory. Congressional committee making case that his election fraud claims led to riot.
MAR-A-LAGO: Department of Justice looking into movement of thousands of documents from White House to Trump’s Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, some marked as “top secret”.
NEW YORK: New York Attorney General Letitia James leads civil investigation to see if Trump Organization overstated real estate values to gain favourable loans and tax rates. District Attorney Alvin Bragg leads criminal case.
GEORGIA: Alleged attempts to overturn 2020 presidential election result. Prosecutors have phone recording of Trump calling state’s top election official saying: “I just want to find 11,780 votes” – amount needed to give him victory.
