UKRAINE
Situation report day 225
October 6, 2022 - Two people have been killed after an alleged Russian missile attack hit Ukraine’s southeastern city of Zaporizhya, as Ukrainian forces retake more settlements in the south and the northeast.
Overnight, seven Russian missiles hit the city of Zaporizhya, damaging or destroying several buildings and causing fires and injuries, regional governor Oleksandr Starukh said. “Rescuers are already pulling people out from under the rubble,” he said.
Ukrainian forces have recaptured thousands of square kilometres of territory since the beginning of September, including dozens of settlements in the past few days.
Thousands of Russian troops retreated after the front line crumbled, first in the northeast, and, since the beginning of this week, also in the south.
