Fear of sabotage after pipeline leaks

By Jordi Bou

September 27, 2022 - Leaks in two Russian gas pipelines are raising concerns about sabotage on infrastructure at the heart of the energy crisis between Russia and Europe.

Danish, German and Polish officials have signalled that suspicious leaks on two Russian gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea are highly likely to be the result of sabotage.

However, it remained far from clear who might be behind any foul play, if proven, on the Nord Stream pipelines that Russia and European partners spent billions of dollars building.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has accused Russia of causing the leaks in what it described as a “terrorist attack”.
