Situation report day 211
September 22, 2022 - Vladimir Putin’s mobilisation of 300,000 reservists is an admission that the Russian President has exhausted his supply of willing volunteers to fight in Ukraine, British defence chiefs have said.
In its daily intelligence briefing, the UK’s Ministry of Defence also said Russia was likely to struggle to muster the extra reservists who now face being called up for duty in the conflict.
Monitoring group OVD-Info said nearly 1,400 people in 38 Russian cities were detained in anti-war protests on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has told the UN General Assembly in New York that Russia must face “just punishment” over its invasion of Ukraine.
