Swedish election in the balance
By Phil Bainbridge
September 11, 2022 - With the opposition right-wing bloc neck-and-neck in the polls with the governing left-wing bloc, Sweden appears destined for a minority government after the September 11 election.
A majority of 175 is required, but with the outgoing Riksdag split 174-173 with two independents, and polls showing less than 1% difference between voting intentions for the two blocs, coalition-building policy compromises may be required to form a new government.
