JWST looks deeper into space than ever before

By Ninian Carter

July 12, 2022 - The James Webb Space Telescope is able to see further back to the origins of the universe than any previous telescope.

The JWST has begun sending back sensational high-resolution images of the universe, allowing us to see further away than the Hubble Space Telescope ever could.

Its first image was released July 12, showing the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723, as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago.

The following day, NASA revealed more stunning images of nebulas and galaxies showcasing the unparalleled resolution JWST is able to capture.

The JWST can observe all the cosmos, from planets to stars to nebulas to galaxies and beyond, and will help scientists uncover secrets of the distant universe as well as exoplanets closer to home.
