Ukraine war situation report – day 110
June 13, 2022 - Russian forces have blown up bridges over the Siverskyi Donets River linking Severodonetsk with its twin city of Lysychansk, cutting off a possible evacuation route for civilians and isolating the Ukrainian forces.
Severodonetsk has become the epicentre of the battle for control over Ukraine's eastern region of Donbas. Parts of the city have been pulverized in some of the bloodiest fighting since the Kremlin unleashed its invasion on Feb 24.
Meanwhile, President Zelensky has called for modern missile defence systems, saying more than 2,600 cruise missiles have landed in Ukraine since the start of the war.
The call comes as Amnesty International has acused Russia of killing hundreds of civilians in the north-eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv using indiscriminate shelling and widely-banned cluster munitions.
