Beijing 2022 Olympic Freestyle Skiing Aerials

By Ninian Carter

February 4, 2022 - February 20, 2022 - The 2022 winter Olympic Games, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, take place in Beijing, China. Aerialists ski off a 2-4 metre-high jump, that propels them up to 6 metres into the air (which can be up to 20 metres above the landing spot). Once in the air, athletes perform a series of flips and twists before landing on an inclined slope about 30 metres long.

Aerial skiing is a judged sport, with competitors marked on jump takeoff, jump form and landing. A degree of difficulty score is also factored into the final score.

The Freestyle Skiing Aerials event made its Olympic debut at the Lillehammer Winter Games in 1994.
