WTA Tour launches schedule to June
January 17, 2022 - July 10, 2022 - 2021 again produced four different Grand Slam champions, and a new generation of emerging talent -- including U.S. Open finalists Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez -- promises to make 2022 equally competitive. The schedule, announced to June, features the first three Grand Slams of the year -- Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon -- as well as five WTA 1000 events.
Only the top eight players who collect the most ranking points over the calendar year will compete in the season-ending Shiseido WTA Finals.
Points that contribute to the WTA Finals Race ranking are accumulated in the Grand Slams, and the newly revamped WTA Tour (WTA Tour 1000 tournaments, WTA Tour 500, and WTA Tour 250).
Ranking points are awarded for each event -- ranging from 2,000 for the winner of a Grand Slam tournament to 280 for the winner of a International series event.
