By Ninian Carter

February 4, 2022 - February 20, 2022 - The 2022 winter Olympic Games, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, take place in Beijing, China. Freestyle Skiing Half-pipe made its Olympic debut at the Sochi Games in Russia, in 2014, and has featured in every winter Olympics since.

The halfpipe is a purpose-built, semi-circular ramp made of snow, with seven-metre-high walls. Competitors perform aerial tricks above the walls while sliding from one side to the other.

Cassie Sharpe of Canada is the reigning Olympic champion in women’s skiing halfpipe, after winning gold in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018.
