Beijing 2022 Olympic Snowboard Halfpipe

By Ninian Carter

February 4, 2022 - February 20, 2022 - The 2022 winter Olympic Games, officially known as the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, take place in Beijing, China. The Snowboard Halfpipe event made its Olympic debut at the Nagano Games in Japan, in 1988, and has featured in every winter Olympics since.

The halfpipe is a purpose-built, semi-circular ramp made of snow, with seven-metre-high walls. Competitors perform aerial tricks above the walls while sliding from one side to the other.

Shaun White of the United States is the only halfpipe triple gold medalist. He is hoping to win a fourth in Beijing, before retiring from Olympic competition, but at the age of 35, and with his world ranking slipping, will he make the cut?
