Hamilton and Verstappen locked in fierce battle for title

By Chris Dinsdale

November 21, 2021 - The inaugural Qatar Grand Prix, the 20th race of the 2021 Formula 1 season, takes place at the Losail International Circuit. Only 14 points separate rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton as their often controversial season-long duel heads to its climax with the final three races staged over four weekends, all in the Middle East.

There are a maximum of 75 points to be won in the final races of the season in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.

Verstappen’s recent race wins in the United States and Mexico maintained his advantage over his rival, but Hamilton’s superb win in Sao Paulo cut the gap between the pair.

Hamilton will surpass the record of Michael Schumacher if he secures his eighth Formula 1 championship title, while Verstappen is targeting a first crown.

Remaining races:
R20 Nov 21: Qatar, Losail International Circuit, Lusail
R21 Dec 5: Saudi Arabia, Street circuit, Jeddah
R22 Dec 12: Abu Dhabi, Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi
