Fury-Wilder to do battle in trilogy fight

By Chris Dinsdale

October 9, 2021 - Undefeated fighter Britain’s Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder of the U.S. will clash for the third time for the WBC title, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Fury is making the first defence of his WBC title since beating Wilder last year. In that fight, in February 2020, Fury emerged with stunning masterclass performance to secure victory after seventh round technical knockout, as Wilder’s corner threw in towel to avoid further punishment to their boxer.

The first bout, in December 2018, ended in a controversial split-decision draw, with Fury out-landing Wilder 84-71 for overall punches, including 46-40 jabs and 38-31 power punches. The American, however, achieved two dramatic knockdowns in the 9th and 12th rounds.

Tyson Fury is undefeated. The “Gypsy King” beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to win the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles, but was later stripped of his belts due to substance abuse. Since returning to the ring, he has defeated Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta, and Tom Schwarz, before his two bouts with Wilder
