June 21, 1791: King Louis XVI of France and Queen Marie Antoinette attempted to escape from revolutionary Paris, but were discovered and arrested at Varennes

June 22, 1611: English explorer Henry Hudson was set adrift with his son and other crew by mutineers in what is now Hudson Bay. The abandoned men were never seen again
