May 8, 2021 - May 30, 2021 - The 104th edition of the Giro d’Italia starts with a time trial in the former royal capital Torino, Piemonte, for the third time in the history of the race, and finishes in Milano after a gruelling 21 days and 3,471km, taking in an altitude gain of 47,000m.

The Giro 2021 features six mountain stages - including perennial favourites Monte Zoncolan and Cortina d’Ampezzo - seven hill stages, six sprint stages and two time trials.

It will present a cultural, historical, touristic and sporting narrative as it passes through Italy, beginning with the start in Torino, to commemorate the unification of Italy 160 years ago.

The Giro also marks 700 years since Dante Alighieri’s death as it passes through Ravenna, where the poet is buried, and Verona in stage 13.
