European nations begin road to FIFA World Cup 2022

December 7, 2020 - The European qualifying draw for the FIFA World Cup 2022, hosted by Qatar in November-December 2022, has taken place in Zurich, Switzerland. The first qualifying matches get underway in March 2021.

Teams drawn into five groups of five teams and five groups of six teams, with group winners qualifying directly for the FIFA World Cup 2022. The runners-up and two best performing teams from the UEFA Nations League contest play-offs to decide which three join them.
