November 22, 1975: Juan Carlos became king of Spain after the death of dictator General Franco. He abdicated in 2014 and left Spain in August 2020 following a series of scandals

November 23, 2019: Flamengo of Brazil became the first soccer team since 1963 to win the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian league on the same weekend

November 24, 2019: Amid ongoing protests in Hong Kong, pro-democracy candidates won control of 17 of 18 district councils in local elections to leave the government reeling

November 25, 2005: Manchester Utd legend George Best died aged 59. He was one of football’s global superstars in the 1960s and 70s but addiction to alcohol led to his early death
