A look back at 230 years of U.S. presidents

September 17, 2020 - A journey through time, charting all 45 U.S. presidents and their years in office. U.S. voters go to the polls to decide who will become the next President of the United States on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

As the head of the government of the United States, the president is arguably the most powerful government official in the world.

He is elected to a four-year term of office via an electoral college system.

Since the 22nd Amendment was adopted in 1951, the presidency has been limited to a maximum of two terms.

45th president, Donald Trump is seeking to extend his presidency into its second term, whereas Joe Biden, a former Vice President under Barak Obama, is seeking to become the 46th American president.

Voters go to the polls to decide on November 3, 2020.
