Boris Johnson’s road to power

By Duncan Mil

April 7, 2020 - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains in an intensive care unit at a London hospital with a severe case of coronavirus. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is deputising for the PM “where necessary.”

Johnson is “in good spirits,” according to a Downing Street spokesman. He said the prime minister, 55, was stable overnight and is being given oxygen -- and was not on a ventilator.

In a statement on Tuesday, a Downing Street spokesman said: “The prime minister has been stable overnight and remains in good spirits. He is receiving standard oxygen treatment and is breathing without any other assistance.

“He has not required mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support.”

A ventilator takes over the body’s breathing process when a disease has caused the lungs to fail.
