Airbus aims for record plane deliveries in 2020

February 14, 2020 - European aviation giant Airbus is planning to break its own record and boost aircraft deliveries to an all-time high in 2020, as rival Boeing continues to struggle in the aftermath of the 737 MAX crisis.

Airbus delivered a record 863 commercial aircraft in 2019, according to full-year financial results published on Thursday. The target for 2020 is even more ambitious, with plans to supply around 880 planes.

With its rival in crisis, Airbus supplied 483 more planes in 2019 than Boeing, the biggest margin in their 45-year battle, Bloomberg said.

However, Airbus’ chief executive said Thursday that his company sees no short-term benefit from Boeing’s troubles with its grounded 737 MAX because the competing A320 is sold out years ahead.
