Gazprom’s Power of Siberia gas pipeline to China

December 2, 2019 - Russia expects to start up its first gas pipeline to China, known as Power of Siberia. The pipeline aims to transport 38 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas a year when it reaches its full capacity.

Built by Russian energy giant Gazprom, the pipeline runs about 3,000km from the Chayanda and Kovykta gas fields in Siberia to Blagoveshchensk, near the Chinese border, according to Bloomberg News.

Another gas pipeline in China connects to the Russian system and will eventually stretch over 3,000km southwards to Shanghai.
