Rugby World Cup 2019 Quarter-final Japan v South

By Chris Dinsdale

October 20, 2019 - Japan and South Africa meet at the Tokyo Stadium in the fourth quarter-final of the 2019 Rugby World Cup. The match is a repeat of Japan’s famous 34-32 victory in the 2015 Rugby World Cup. The host nation is making its first appearance in the quarter-finals, while South Africa have twice gone on to lift the Webb Ellis trophy.

The 2019 tournament marks the first time that the showpiece has been held in Asia, outside rugby’s traditional heartlands.

New Zealand’s third title in 2015 moved them ahead of their southern hemisphere rivals Australia and South Africa, who have each won the tournament twice.

The tournament now enters the knock-out stages, with the final scheduled to take place at the International Stadium in Yokohama on November 2, where the champions will be presented with the Webb Ellis Cup.
