French tourist spot lockdown for G7 summit
August 24, 2019 - August 26, 2019 - Road, rail, maritime and air traffic restrictions will impact France’s tourist hotspot of Biarritz as the city hosts the 45th G7 summit.
The centre of Biarritz will be subject to strict security conditions during the August summit.
Two zones have been established in the coastal city:
Protection Zone (blue) – Only vehicles and pedestrians displaying a special badge will be allowed access. Airport and train station closed to public. Restricted airspace. No drones allowed.
Reinforced Protection Zone (red) – No access for non-accredited pedestrians or vehicles. Restricted airspace. No drones.
La Grande Plage (beach): All marine activity forbidden within 300m, 3km zone restricted to swimmers only, 9km controlled zone with boat speeds not allowed to exceed 12 knots.
Nearly 12,000 people, including 3,500 media, are expected to attend the event.
