Champions League Last 16 draw 2019-20
The Champions League group stage begins on September 17, with 26 teams having already claimed their place in the draw via domestic performances in the 2018-19 season. The group stage draw is held on August 26.
The remaining six spots are split between two separate qualification paths:
The Champions Route features national league champions from across Europe, with four teams progressing to the group stage.
The League Route features the highest ranked non-champions, where two teams will make it through to the group stage.
Teams eliminated in the play-off round will secure a berth in the Europa League group stage, Europe’s second tier club competition.
