July 11, 2019 - Australia and host nation England meet in the second semi-final of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, played at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Australia thrashed England to secure a 64-run victory in the group stage match between the two sides, with captain Aaron Finch scoring a century before bowlers Mitchell Starc and Jason Behrendorff dismantled the England attack.
Australia topped the group round robin phase, despite a final surprise defeat to South Africa, while England rallied with victories over India and New Zealand to qualify for the semi-finals.
Ten teams began the ICC Cricket World Cup, competing to be crowned World Champions. Australia, India, England and New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals as the tournament reaches the knock-out phase.
Reigning champions Australia are aiming for a record-extending sixth title.
Only five countries have ever won the Cricket World Cup -- of the other champions the West Indies and India have each won the tournament twice, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka have one title apiece.
The final will take place at Lord’s, in London, on July 14.
