July 3, 2019 - The second semi-final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup features the Netherlands, who have reached this stage of the tournament for the first time, against Sweden, focused on making their first final since 2003 after a superb victory over two-time champions Germany in the quarter-finals. The match will be played at the Stade de Lyon, in Lyon.

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup showcases the remarkable rise in popularity in the women’s game, with increased participation numbers and steady growth of supporter bases.

France 2019 is the eighth Women’s World Cup since the competition was launched in 1991. The United States is aiming to lift the trophy for a record-extending fourth time, after victories in 1991, 1999 and 2015. Three other nations have been crowned World Champions: Germany (2003, 2007), Norway (1995) and Japan (2011).

A total of 52 matches will be played at 9 venues over four weeks, with the final taking place at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon on July 7.
