By Chris Dinsdale

June 28, 2019 - The second quarter-final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup features tournament hosts France, who are aiming to reach a first World Cup final on home soil, against the reigning champions from the United States, who are set to be tested in the competition for the first time after qualifying for the last eight with an unconvincing victory over Spain. The match will be played at Parc des Princes in Paris.

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup showcases the remarkable rise in popularity in the women’s game, with increased participation numbers and steady growth of supporter bases.

France 2019 is the eighth Women’s World Cup since the competition was launched in 1991. The United States is aiming to lift the trophy for a record-extending fourth time, after victories in 1991, 1999 and 2015. Three other nations have been crowned World Champions: Germany (2003, 2007), Norway (1995) and Japan (2011).

A total of 52 matches will be played at 9 venues over four weeks, with the final taking place at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon on July 7.
