FIFA Women’s World Cup Quarter-final, Jun 27

By Chris Dinsdale

June 27, 2019 - July 29, 2019 - The FIFA Women’s World Cup in France enters the quarter-final stage, in which the remaining eight teams compete to be crowned World Champions. The first quarter-final, hosted in Le Havre, features an organised and increasingly confident Norway, against England, focused on realising their full potential under the strategic guidance of coach Phil Neville.

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup showcases the remarkable rise in popularity in the women’s game, with increased participation numbers and steady growth of supporter bases.

France 2019 is the eighth Women’s World Cup since the competition was launched in 1991. The United States is aiming to lift the trophy for a record-extending fourth time, after victories in 1991, 1999 and 2015. Three other nations have been crowned World Champions: Germany (2003, 2007), Norway (1995) and Japan (2011).

A total of 52 matches will be played at 9 venues over four weeks, with the final taking place at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon on July 7.
