CONCACAF Gold Cup 2019

By Chris Dinsdale

June 15, 2019 - July 7, 2019 - The 15th CONCACAF Gold Cup will be hosted in the United States, with Costa Rica and Jamaica also hosting matches, and features 16 teams all battling to be crowned continental champions. Since the first Gold Cup in 1991, nine nations have reached the final, with just three going on to lift the trophy. Perennial rivals Mexico and the United States have dominated the tournament -- sharing 13 titles apiece -- with Canada’s sole triumph in 2000.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is a biennial international men's football championship, organised by the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).

Participants in the 2019 competition are the United States, Mexico and Canada from North America, Honduras, Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica (Central America), and Curacao, Jamaica, Bermuda, Cuba, Guyana, Haiti, Martinique and Trinidad and Tobago (from the Caribbean).

The iconic Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California, will host the opening matches, featuring Canada against Martinique and Mexico taking on Cuba, while defending champions United States will begin their campaign against tournament debutants Guyana, in Saint Paul. Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium will host the final on July 7.

A total of 17 venues will host 31 matches, including stadia in: Saint Paul, Los Angeles, Charlotte, Houston, Kansas City, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Nashville, Harrison, Pasadena, Chicago, Denver, Frisco, Glendale (United States), San Jose (Costa Rica) and Kingston (Jamaica).
