Toy Story 4 set for record-breaking earnings

By Ninian Carter

June 21, 2019 - Toy Story 4 is set to break movie theatre box office records for an animated feature – Pixar’s latest offering has already broken advance ticket sales records in the United States.

Box office analysts believe Toy Story 4 has a good chance of setting a new opening record for an animated movie – beating Incredibles 2’s three-day haul of $182.7m. They think Disney-Pixar’s latest offering could realistically do around 10% more business than the current record holder.

As a signal of good fortunes ahead, Fandango and Atom Tickets are already reporting first day movie ticket pre-orders for Toy Story 4 have set a new record.

A recent summer movie survey from Atom Tickets indicated Toy Story 4 had cracked the competitive top 5 “most anticipated movies of the summer” list. Film fans also voted for it as one of their top 3 “most anticipated family movies”.

Like Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 before it, the secret formula to Toy Story 4’s likely success is its multi-generational appeal, and the fact that Toy Story was Pixar’s first movie and has become one of the most beloved franchises in cinema.
