Slovakia hosts 2019 IIHF World Championship
May 10, 2019 - May 26, 2019 - The men's Ice Hockey World Championship takes place in the cities of Bratislava and Košice in Slovakia, where the world’s top 16 national teams will compete for the gold medal.
Hosts Slovakia play in Group A at Kosice’s Steel Arena, and have been drawn with world number one side Canada, United States, Finland, Germany, Denmark, France and Britain.
Britain will be playing at the sport’s top level for the first time since 1994, after winning promotion at last year’s Division One World Championship.
Group B will be played at Bratislava’s Ondrej Nepela Arena and will feature Sweden, who will be aiming for their third straight title, alongside 2018 runners-up Switzerland, Olympic gold medallists Russia, Czech Republic, Latvia, Austria and newly promoted Italy.
