Super Bowl LIII

By Chris Dinsdale

February 3, 2019 - The New England Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams in the 53rd edition of the Super Bowl, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The Patriots, who defeated the LA Chargers and Kansas City in the playoffs, are competing in their third successive showpiece, aiming to win a sixth Vince Lombardi trophy since 2001, while the Rams, who eliminated Dallas and New Orleans, are seeking their first victory since 2000.

The Super Bowl is the annual championship of the U.S. National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional American football.

The game is contested by the winners of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), and always attracts massive advertising revenues and vast audiences.

An estimated 103.4 million people watched the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots in the 2018 Super Bowl, down from the 2017 audience of 111.3 million. The all-time record for Super Bowl viewing was 114.4 million for the Seattle-New England game in 2015.

A 30-second commercial broadcast during the game will cost between $5.1 million and $5.3 million.
