February 3, 2004: The first passenger train from Darwin to Adelaide completed its inaugural three-day trip, realising a century-old dream to link the north and south of Australia.

February 4, 2018: The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl with a surprise victory over the New England Patriots. Quarterback Nick Foles was named Most Valuable Player

February 5, 1919: Movie stars Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin (above), and D.W Griffith founded their own studio, United Artists, to control their commercial interests

February 6, 2018: SpaceX successfully launched its Falcon Heavy rocket on its maiden flight, carrying founder Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster as a dummy payload
