Davis Cup Final 2018

By Chris Dinsdale

November 23, 2018 - November 25, 2018 - France and Croatia contest the Davis Cup Final in Lille. Lucas Pouille, the world number 32, leads a French team aiming to defend their 2017 title and claim an 11th crown overall, while Croatia, led by world number 7 Marin Cilic, are making their third appearance in the final after beating Slovakia in 2005, and losing out to Argentina in 2015.

France, captained by Yannick Noah, defeated the Netherlands, Italy and Spain en route to the final, and have selected the experience of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to complete their five-man team.

Croatia beat Canada, Kazakhstan and the USA to make the showpiece in Lille, and will be relying on Marin Cilic, the 2014 U.S. Open champion and this year’s Australian Open finalist, to lead their attack. Captain Zeljko Krajan has also selected doubles world number 3, Mate Pavic.

The two nations have met twice previously. France beat Croatia in 2004 but the Croatians were victorious in the World Group semi-final in 2016.
