November 25, 2016: Fidel Castro, former president of Cuba, died aged 90. Supporters praised him as a champion of socialism but his critics viewed him as a ruthless dictator
November 26, 2008: Coordinated terror attacks in Mumbai, India’s financial capital, killed 173 people and injured 300 before security forces regained control of the city 48 hours later
November 27, 1910: Pennsylvania Station, then the world’s largest rail station, opened in New York. It was demolished in 1963 to make way for the new Madison Square Garden
November 28, 1948: The first Polaroid camera went on sale. The instant camera used self-developing film to create a chemically developed print shortly after taking the picture
November 29, 1394: Korean ruler Yi Seong-gye, founder of the Joseon Dynasty, moved his capital from Kaesong to Hanyang, now known as Seoul. Yi reigned from 1392 to 1398
November 30, 1853: Russian ships attacked and destroyed the Turkish fleet at Sinope in the Crimean War. The battle helped bring Great Britain and France into the conflict
December 1, 2013: China launched an unmanned probe to the moon. Chang’e-3 and its rover, Jade Rabbit, was the first spacecraft in 37 years to touch down on the lunar surface
