September 28, 2018 - September 30, 2018 - The 42nd Ryder Cup Matches will be held in France at the Albatros Course of Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, southwest of Paris. It will be the second Ryder Cup to be held in continental Europe, after the 1997 contest, which took place in Spain.

Team Europe will be aiming to reclaim the trophy following their defeat at Hazeltine National in 2016. The U.S. hasn’t won a Ryder Cup on foreign soil since 1993.

The Ryder Cup is a men’s golf competition played between teams from Europe and the United States every two years, the venue alternating between courses in the U.S. and Europe.

The Ryder Cup is named after the English businessman Samuel Ryder who donated the trophy.

The event is jointly administered by the PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe, (a joint venture with the PGA European Tour, the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland, and the PGA of Europe). The players themselves receive no prize money despite the event being high profile and bringing in large amounts of television and sponsorship revenue.
