Anthony Joshua-Alexander Povetkin heavyweight title fight

By Chris Dinsdale

September 22, 2018 - Undefeated world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua faces Russian Alexander Povetkin in a mandatory title defence for the IBF, IBO and WBO heavyweight titles, as well as the WBA Super crown.

Joshua, the 2012 Olympic champion, has notched up 21 wins since turning professional in 2013, and currently holds the IBF, IBO, WBO and WBA crowns, after defeating New Zealand’s Joseph Parker in March.

Povetkin, the mandatory WBA challenger, has won 34 matches since making his professional debut in 2005, with a sole defeat coming against Wladimir Klitschko in 2013.

The winner is likely to seek a bout with WBC title-holder Deontay Wilder to unify the heavyweight division for the first time since 1999.
