What to expect from Apple’s September announcement

By Ninian Carter

September 12, 2018 - According to industry leaks, Apple is set to announce a bigger Watch and three new iPhone models at its annual keynote event.

Apple’s September 12 media event will give a first look at its latest product refreshes.

It is expected to introduce three new iPhones – a second-generation 5.8-inch OLED device, a larger-screened 6.5-inch OLED device, and a lower-cost 6.1-inch smartphone with LCD display. All three are expected to feature upgraded A12 processors, faster LTE, edge-to-edge displays and Face ID integration – with Apple foregoing the Home button for its entire 2018 iPhone lineup.

Apple will also introduce the Apple Watch Series 4, which has a larger display thanks to a reduced bezel size. Other rumoured features include longer battery life and improved health monitoring capabilities, plus new watch faces via the upcoming WatchOS 5.

Other products expected to be revealed include revamped AirPods (with Siri support), and the long-awaited AirPower wireless charging mat, which is capable of charging an Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods at the same time.

Also in the pipeline, but which may be held for an October event, include new iPad Pro models and refreshed Macs.
