Norway to host largest NATO war games in years

By Mike Tyler

October 25, 2018 - Over 40,000 troops will converge on Norway for NATO’s largest military exercise in recent years. Dubbed Trident Juncture 18, the two-week drill will involve all alliance members, plus partners Finland and Sweden.

Germany will be one of the largest contributors, with 8,000 troops and more than 2,000 vehicles, including 100 tanks, German media have reported.

According to Norway’s armed forces, the exercise will test the whole military chain – from troop training at the tactical level, to command over large forces. It will train the troops of the NATO Response Force and forces from other allies and partners, ensuring they can work seamlessly together.

Trident Juncture takes place every three years and was last hosted by Italy, Spain and Portugal.
