Jet maker Embraer shows teeth
July 18, 2018 - Boeing, Airbus, Brazil’s Embraer and China’s Comac have announced 1,057 firm and tentative orders at the Farnborough air show.
Flightglobal’s order tracker reports that U.S. carrier Republic has signed a deal for 100 E175s and purchase rights for 100 more in the most significant deal of the show so far, part of a bumper day of Embraer.
Airbus has secured a memorandum of understanding from David Neeleman’s planned U.S. start-up for 60 A220s in the first deal of the show for the latest addition to its product line, while Boeing logged a new order for 15 Boeing 737 Max 8s from the Brazilian carrier Gol. The airline also converted 30 of its Max 8 orders to the larger Max 10s.
Qatar Airways also firmed its earlier commitment for five 777 freighters.
Airbus also formally confirmed Sichuan Airlines’ order for 10 A350-900s, first revealed in February. Kuwaiti carrier Wataniya Airways firmed an order for 25 Airbus A320neo jets through its aircraft provider Golden Falcon Aviation.
