Missing soccer team found safe in Thailand cave

By Mike Tyler

July 2, 2018 - All 12 boys and their soccer coach have been found alive after nine days missing in the flooded Tham Luang Nang Non cave system in Thailand, according to the Chiang Rai governor.

The boys, aged 11 to 16, and their coach entered the cave in Chiang Rai province on June 23. Heavy rains that flooded key passages are believed to have trapped the soccer players and hampered the search for them.

Chiang Rai Governor Narongsak Osotthanakorn said the soccer team was found at a spot about 400 meters away from Pattaya Beach – an elevated area of dry ground deep inside the cave – quoting a report from the SEAL rescue teams.
