Fighting rages around Yemen’s Hodeida airport

By Mike Tyler

June 19, 2018 - Yemeni pro-government fighters supported by a Saudi-led coalition have seized the international airport in the vital port city of Hodeida after fierce battles with Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, Yemeni military sources said.

The capture of the airport from the Houthis would be an important gain for the coalition backing Yemen’s exiled government, according to Reuters. Hodeida is the main entry point for food to Yemen, already on the brink of famine.
